Colorado Eagles News Release
WINDSOR, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Michael Sdao to a Standard Player Contract for the 2016-17 season. The 6-foot-4, 225-pound native of Niwot, Colorado has spent the past three seasons in the AHL with the Binghamton Senators and Rochester Americans, generating 22 points and 336 penalty minutes, while playing at a cumulative plus-11 in 135 games.
"Michael is a player whose physical presence will be known to the opposition every time he steps on the ice," said Eagles head coach Aaron Schneekloth. "He's an imposing figure and he plays with that same mentality. He's an intelligent player that sees the game well and has a proven track record in the American Hockey League."
A 7th round pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Sdao registered 54 points and 236 penalty minutes in four seasons at Princeton University. During his time at the NCAA level, Sdao was named to the All-Ivy League First Team on two separate occasions, while also being named to the ECAC All-Star Team during his junior season.
"I'm very excited to be joining the Eagles," said Sdao. "The Eagles have always had a first-class organization with a winning track record and their new affiliation with the Colorado Avalanche is only going to further that tradition."
The 27 year-old spent two seasons at the junior level with the Lincoln Stars of the USHL, posting 19 points and 340 penalty minutes in 104 contests.
Season tickets for the 2016-17 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468). The 2016-17 regular season home schedule kicks off on Saturday, October 15th when the Eagles host the Rapid City Rush. A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
