
Newly-Appointed WNBA President to visit Valley

Newly-Appointed President of the WNBA, Donna Orender will be in Phoenix to meet with the Valley's WNBA team, the Phoenix Mercury. Orender was recently appointed to succeed WNBA Founding President Val Ackerman.
Orender will be available for media interviews while she visits with the Phoenix Mercury ownership, staff, players and sponsors.
WHEN: Tuesday April 26, 2005 (12:30-1:30 p.m.)
WHERE: America West Arena or in-studio
WHO: Donna Orender was an All-Star in the Women's Basketball League. While in the league, Orender played for the New York Stars, New Jersey Gems and Chicago Hustle. In addition, Orender was an All-American basketball player at Queens College of New York.
For the past 17 years, Orender was associated with the PGA Tour. Until recently, she served as Senior Vice President of the PGA TOUR where she has overseen worldwide management of PGA TOUR television and production, advertising, brand management and integration. She was also responsible for the PGA TOUR new media and internet business.
Orender assumed her new position with the WNBA this month. She currently resides in Jacksonville Beach, Fla. and is married to M.G. Orender, Honorary President of the PGA America.
The WNBA will tip off its ninth season Saturday May 21, 2005. The Phoenix Mercury will take on the Sacramento Monarchs at America West Arena at 7 p.m.
