Savannah Sand Gnats News Release
SAVANNAH, Ga. - Baseball America announced it's annual "Best Tools" list for the South Atlantic League, and Logan Sorensen has been named the Best Defensive First Baseman in the SAL. Sorensen joined the Gnats on Wednesday, August 2 and made his debut in the field on Friday night.
The Best Tools list was voted on by all 16 managers in the South Atlantic League and announced Friday afternoon. Sorensen was the only Sand Gnat named to any of the 20 categories.
Sorensen began the season with the Greenville Drive, SAL affliate of the Boston Red Sox but was released by Boston on July 19. Despite his two-week absence from the league before he joined Savannah, he still has 64 assists, the most among first baseman. In 72 games with Greenville, he committed only 2 errors.
In his first game with the Gnats on Friday night in Greensboro, he went 0-for-3 and played left field for the first time in his career.
