All-Star 3B Russ Mitchell Promoted to Vero Beach

Columbus, GA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have promoted 3B Russ Mitchell from the Columbus Catfish (Low-A) to the Vero Beach Dodgers (High-A). He will be replaced on the Catfish roster by 3B Eduardo Perez.

Mitchell batted .239 with 32 doubles, 15 home runs, 71 runs and 75 RBI in 105 games with Columbus. In the last seven games Mitchell was 10-for-27 (.370) with 11 RBI and three home runs. He was a 2006 South Atlantic League Southern Division All-Star. Mitchell's RBI total of 75 is tied for second in the SAL. The other slugger with 75 RBI is former Catfish OF Sergio Pedroza, who was promoted to Vero Beach on July 18.

Perez started the season with the Catfish, hitting .242 with 13 RBI and 12 runs in 25 games. He then spent 30 games with the Ogden Raptors (R) and batted .255 with 13 RBI and 13 runs.

Saturday at 7:05pm the Catfish wrap up a four-game road series against the West Virginia Power. Then they head to Lexington for four games against the Legends.
