New York Red Bulls II News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - New York Red Bulls II have signed midfielder Amos Shapiro-Thompson to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today.
"Amos is a player that we know will thrive within MLS NEXT Pro this season," Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. "We drafted him for a reason and are excited to see him perform at this level".
Shapiro-Thompson is coming off his senior at Boston College, where he tallied two goals and an assist in over 1000 minutes of play time. Over his college career, the midfielder appeared in 36 matches and started in 33 of them. In that span, he scored six goals and recorded five assists.
"Amos' presence in the midfield will be really important for the team's structure," Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya said. "His patience on the ball and determination will lead him and the entire squad to success this year".
He was a member of the 2016 Milton Academy team, which won the ISL and NEPSAC tournament, while going 23-0-0. The Worthington, Massachusetts native played in MLS Next with New England Revolution for three seasons.
The midfielder was selected in the third round, number 79 overall, in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft by the New York Red Bulls.
