New York Red Bulls II (3-0-3, 14 pts.) tied Philadelphia Union 2 (3-0-3, 14 pts.), 1-1 at Subaru Park on Sunday afternoon with Philadelphia winning the shootout, 4-2.

New York opened the scoring in the 14th minute when a Bento Estrela long ball found a sprinting Steven Sserwadda, who calmly tucked the ball away past the Philadelphia goalkeeper.

Philadelphia equalized in the 56th minute after Edward Davis redirected a cross into the back of the net.

Midfielders Ibrahim Kasule and Bento Estrela converted their shots in the shootout.

Sserwadda's goal was his first of the season in MLS NEXT Pro.

The Ugandan midfielder now has recorded three goals in his career with New York Red Bulls II.

Estrela's assist on the goal was the first of his professional career.

Goalkeeper Aidan Stokes and Red Bulls Academy defender Jeffrey Bryjak both made their MLS NEXT Pro debuts for New York in the match.

New York is now undefeated in their six matches to start their league season for the first time in club history.

Red Bulls II has not lost any of their first three matches on the road to start the season for the third time in club history (2016, 2023).

New York Red Bulls II earned their first result at Subaru Park since July 22, 2020.
