New York Red Bulls fall to Philadelphia Union in shootout, 4-3, following 1-1 draw in regulation at Subaru Park.
New York started the scoring early, when Omir Fernandez found the feet of Elias Manoel, who found the back of the net in the 4th minute.
The equalizer from Philadelphia would come in the 68th minute when Nathan Harriel buried a corner sent in by Kai Wagner.
Jack Elliott, Mikael Uhre, Julian Carranza, and Jesus Bueno all converted in the shootout to seal the victory for Philadelphia
Manoel's goal was his third of the season and the fifth of his career with New York across all competitions.
Fernandez' assist was his 4th in 2023 and the 9th of his career across all competitions, his second against Philadelphia.
Fernandez has recorded a goal or an assist in six of his last nine matches across all competitions.
New York will return to MLS Regular Season play on August 20th against D.C. and will face off against Philadelphia Union on Monday, August 7.
