BRIDGEVIEW, IL (March 23, 2014) - The New York Red Bulls earned a hard-fought 1-1 tie against the Chicago Fire Sunday afternoon at a chilly Toyota Park. Midfielder Dax McCarty scored his first goal of the year in the draw, which moved New York to two points off a 0-1-2 record in 2014.

New York will return to Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 30, when it hosts CD Chivas USA at 3:00 PM (TV: MSG, UniMas). Tickets are on sale now by calling 1.877.727.6223 or logging onto tickets.newyorkredbulls.com.

The Red Bulls had a scoring opportunity just four minutes in as Tim Cahill chipped it over the top on the left wing to Jonny Steele. Steele controlled the pass and his cross towards the back post was nodded by Lloyd Sam into the side netting. Two minutes later, Chicago took the lead. Harrison Shipp's corner kick was met by Jeff Larentowicz, who headed it into the back of the net.

New York tied the game in the 21st minute. Off a New York corner kick, the ball fell in the box after Cahill and Ibrahim Sekagya challenged for it in the air. McCarty was first to the loose ball and tucked it home.

Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles made a stellar save moments following McCarty's goal, tipping a free kick deflected by Cahill over the crossbar. Two minutes into the second half, Robles again came to New York's aid, going to his left to parry an Alex blast.

New York had 60.4% of the possession in the match and exerted pressure on the hosts up until the end, when Henry's corner kick was deflected just wide of the frame in the 90th minute.
