
New York Red Bulls Defender John Tolkin Selected for U.S. Men's Olympic National Team Camp

HARRISION, N.J. - New York Red Bulls defender John Tolkin has been called up to the U.S. Men's Olympic National Team for their upcoming camp, U.S. soccer announced today.
This will mark the third time this season that Tolkin has been called for international duty, including two times for the United States Men's Senior National Team. Tolkin will be in camp with the Olympic Team in Phoenix, Arizona from October 8 to October 17.
Tolkin, 21, is in his fourth season with the Red Bulls, where he has made 84 MLS appearances in his career and has recorded four goals and 11 assists. This season, Tolkin has played in 25 MLS matches and has tallied two goals and six assists. His eight assists across all competitions this season is a new franchise record for most assists by a defender in single season across all competitions. Tolkin earned his first MLS All-Star selection this year, where he became only the second New York homegrown player to be selected to the roster.
Tolkin and the U.S. Men's Olympic squad will play two matches during the training camp to prepare for 2024 Olympics. First, they will face Mexico on October 11 and then finish up with a match against Japan on October 17. This will be the United States first appearance at the Olympics since 2008.
The Chatham, NJ native has made 12 career appearances for the United States at various age levels, this includes three senior team caps, all of which have come in this calendar year. He made his first career senior cap on January 28 against Colombia and made two appearances at the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
