New York Power News Release

NEW YORK, NY - New York Power head coach Tom Sermanni has waived defender Ronnie Fair, midfielder Justi Baumgardt-Yamada, midfielder Kim Montgomery and midfielder Krista Davey to Monday's WUSA Waiver Draft in preparation for the club's third season which opens on Saturday, April 5, 7:00 p.m. against the Atlanta Beat.

The Power also announced that goalkeeper Gao Hong has been traded to the Washington Freedom for future considerations, and that international midfielder Linda Ormen is on loan to the Norwegian club team, Asker.

Sermanni, like the other seven coaches in the league, was required to reduce his roster to no more than 16 players and no less than 12 to the league late Friday night. He now will prepare to scan the final list of waived players in the WUSA Waiver Draft to be held Monday, February 24 at 4:00 p.m. ET. Any player whose option was not exercised will be available to be selected by any team via the Waiver Draft. The draft order will be based on each team's finish in the 2002 season. The draft will continue until all eight teams pass on their current pick. On February 25, a daily Waiver Wire will begin. It will last until all players involved in the Waiver Wire Process are either claimed or become unrestricted. Any player not selected during the Waivers Period may re-enter the league through the tryout process.
