CyberRays exercise options on maximum 16 players

SAN JOSE (Feb. 21, 2003) – The San Jose CyberRays today exercised options on the maximum allowable 16 players in advance of the March 1 opening of training camp for the 2003 WUSA season.

WUSA rules required that each team exercise the options of a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 16 – not including players taken in the Feb. 2 WUSA Draft – by 2 p.m. PST. All players whose options were not exercised are eligible to be placed in a pool for a waiver draft at 1 p.m. PST Monday.

WUSA teams may have up to 28 players in camp when preseason training begins. The CyberRays open their 2003 season at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 against the Philadelphia Charge in Spartan Stadium.
