NEW YORK, NY - March 4, 2013 - New York Liberty Head Coach and General Manager Bill Laimbeer announced today that the team has re-signed forward/center Kara Braxton. Per team policy, the terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Kara is powerful, athletic and has championship experience, which are all things I am looking for when building this team," said Laimbeer. "We know each other very well from our time in Detroit, and Kara knows what I expect from her on and off the court."

"I love New York and my teammates and can't wait to play for Bill again," said Braxton. "This decision was an easy one, and I am 100% committed to doing what needs to be done to bring a championship to the best fans in the WNBA."

Braxton played in 34 games in 2012, earning starts in 18. She averaged 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in her first full season with the Liberty after being acquired from Phoenix in August 2011.

Braxton was the seventh overall pick in 2005 by the Detroit Shock (now Tulsa), winning two WNBA Championships (2006, 2008) in five seasons in Detroit under Laimbeer. Voted an All-Star her second year in the league, Braxton is averaging 7.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game over eight WNBA seasons.

The Liberty 2013 regular season home opener is on May 31 against the Tulsa Shock at Prudential Center. Liberty season ticket packages are available by calling 212-465-6766 or by visiting NYLiberty.com.
