HOME SWEET HOME: After Saturday's win against Los Angeles, the Liberty has now won its home opener every season except 2005 ...In celebrating 10 years for both the WNBA and the Liberty, New York relived their very first home opener, winning in overtime against Los Angeles, on Saturday, as the team did against Phoenix in 1997.
WE'RE GOING STREAKING: New York has been on a roll against Los Angeles as of late ... Saturday's 89-79 win over the Sparks at The Garden was the second straight home victory for New York against LA ... It was also the third consecutive overall Liberty win against the Sparks, as New York swept the teams' season series in 2005 ... Last season's 74-69 Liberty win at MSG broke a home losing streak against the Sparks - it was the first for New York since July 18, 2002 ... There were plenty of fans on hand for Saturday's win too ... 14,070 screaming Liberty fans packed The Garden to see New York pick up its first win of 2006 ... That is the largest Liberty MSG crowd since 15,698 watched New York defeat Washington, 75-70, on September 19, 2004.
