New York Red Bulls News Release
HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls (9-11-7, 34 points) begin a two-match homestand on Saturday, October 9 starting with Inter Miami CF (9-13-5, 32 points). Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET with coverage on Univision, TUDN, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com. Following the match, there will be post-match fireworks for the first time this season.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 5 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET.
This will be the final meeting between New York and Miami this season. On September 17, the Red Bulls defeated Miami, 4-0, at DRV PNK Stadium. Since that match, New York has been on a five-match unbeaten streak (3-0-2). Midfielder Wiki Carmona and defender Tom Edwards each recorded their first career MLS assists in the match. Miami are currently two points behind New York and have not won in their last four matches with losses against Nashville SC (5-1), Atlanta United FC (1-0), and Portland Timbers (1-0)
Red Bulls defender Andrew Gutman scored the game-winning goal in the club's last match against FC Cincinnati on October 2. Gutman tied Andrés Reyes for the most goals by a defender this season with two. Cristian Casseres, Jr. tallied an assist on the goal and now has recorded an assist in two-straight matches.
During New York's five-match unbeaten streak, they have only allowed two goals, which is tied for the second lowest in MLS during that timespan. Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel has earned three shutouts in the last five matches. He ranks fourth in MLS in shutouts with nine and ranks seventh in saves with 78. After the shutout on October 2, Coronel moved into a tie with Jonny Walker for sixth place in franchise history in shutouts.
Following Saturday's match, the Red Bulls welcome rival New York City FC to Red Bull Arena for the third New York Derby of the season on Sunday, October 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET on ESPN and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
