OMAHA, NE - Happy New Year! The Omaha Royals 2009 home opener at Rosenblatt Stadium on Friday, April 17th will have a New Year's theme, featuring a ball drop, a champagne toast, party favors and fireworks. The Royals host the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m. Friday in the opener of a four-game home stand. These exciting promotions are scheduled for the first home stand of the season:

Friday, April 17, 7:05 p.m.: Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the 1st 2,500 fans receive an Omaha Royals magnet schedule - plus the national mascot act Rally performs in between innings of the game - all presented by Mutual 1st Federal Credit Union. It's the first of eight Fireworks Fridays this season, with a post-game fireworks show courtesy of the season's presenting sponsor, Werner Enterprises. It's also a U.S. Cellular Dreams Come True Night: one lucky fan who signed up at an area U.S. Cellular store will be on the field for batting practice, throw out a ceremonial first pitch, assist in the press box and be the official fireworks starter. The local band The Side Effects will play in the stadium's front plaza before the game. The night is also presented by Twister 93.3, KETV and The City Weekly!

Saturday, April 18, 7:05 p.m.: Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the 1st 1,500 fans will receive an Omaha Royals cap featuring the 1980's-style logo, courtesy of Werner Enterprises! The night is also presented by 1620 The Zone, WOWT and The Reader!

Sunday, April 19, 1:35 p.m.: It's U.S. Bank Family FUNday, with clowns, face painting and balloon art, plus after the game all kids are invited to run the bases with Casey! All Subway Kids Club members receive a FREE ticket to the game, courtesy of Subway. Plus, any fan bringing an Our Family Brand food item to the stadium gets a FREE G.A. ticket! The day is also presented by KGBI 100.7 FM and KPTM.

Monday, April 20, 11:05 a.m.: Nearly 11,000 students from 70 area schools are set to invade Rosenblatt for the 10th annual Cox Communications Home Run for Youth Day! All K-12 students in Cox's service area were invited and those who participated receive FREE tickets to the game. Cox also provides the schools with study guides on America's pastime, so they can incorporate learning into this fun field trip if they choose. The day is also presented by 1110 KFAB.

ABOUT THE ROYALS: Readers of Omaha Magazine voted the Omaha Royals as Best Omaha Sports Team in the magazine's 17th annual Best of Omaha Awards, published in its January/February 2009 edition. In 2008, 349,376 fans attended Omaha Royals home games, making the Royals the largest-drawing sports team or event in the metro area last year. It also marked the team's largest season attendance total since 2001, while the average of 5,375 fans per game last season was the club's highest figure since 2000. Omaha's Triple-A franchise has drawn over 300,000 fans a year to Rosenblatt for 21 consecutive seasons, dating back to 1988.
