Bloomington Extreme News Release

The Bloomington Extreme took yet another step toward their inaugural season with the signing of eight new players today. Head Coach Ted Schmitz announces the new additions Monday, including an impressive list of players with prior experience.

Coming in at 6" 315 lbs, lineman Kenneth Sandor is one of the most seasoned additions to the lineup. After two successful seasons at West Virginia University, Sandor went on as an anchor of the Ohio Valley Greyhounds offensive line. During his three years of service he helped block for the leagues leading rusher and brought in Atlantic Conference All-Star honors.

Adding even more experience to the offensive line is Nicholas Ruud. He joins the already hefty offensive line at 6"3' 300 lbs with two years of semi-pro ball under his belt. Ruud also had a successful collegiate career with the Truman State Bulldogs pulling in First Team MIAA honors.

Joining Sandor and Ruud on the offensive line is J.D. Sheldon. The tackle comes to the Extreme after a season with the Kane County Eagles and a prominent career at Augustana College. While with the Augustana Vikings he played as team captain for two years and was named AFCA All-American twice.

The Extreme add ISU graduate Brian McCaslin to the offensive side of the ball at quarterback. McCaslin joins former Libertyville high-school teammate J.D. Sheldon and will be one of four quarterbacks invited to camp vying for the starting position.

On defense, linebacker Jason Howard joins the Bloomington club at 6'0 218 lbs. Howard adds experience to the Extreme with two prior seasons with the Mid-State Steel in Peoria. While there Howard helped the Steel to the USFA title game and took home game MVP honors.

Adding more experience to the Extreme is Glenn Johnson. While spending time with the Fort Wayne Freedom, Johnson put up impressive numbers at wide receiver. At 6'1 195, Johnson had a successful career as a wide receiver at the University of Indiana.

Linebacker James Dudgeon joins the Extreme after playing for the Twin City Storm, a semi-pro team out of Bloomington. During his time with the Storm he put up impressive numbers bringing him awards including the All Midwest Football League Team.

The Bloomington Extreme, a member of the United Indoor Football League, will enter into its inaugural season on the road against the Peoria Rough Riders on March 25th. The Extreme's home opener at the brand new U.S. Cellular Coliseum will be on April 1st. Season tickets for the Extreme range from $70 to $200 depending on seat location.
