Grand Prairie AirHogs News Release

Grand Prairie- Aaron Wilkerson, the newly acquired pitcher from the Fort Worth Cats, led the Grand Prairie AirHogs (47-42) to a huge victory over the Amarillo Sox 2-0 Wednesday night at QuikTrip Park. Wilkerson came out strong holding the Sox to one hit over 7.2 innings. Wilkerson was outstanding striking out three Sox players while only walking two. Patrick Mincey pitched the final 1.1 innings and earned his 20th save for the year. Mincey allowed no hits and no runs striking out one Sox player. The two right-handed pitchers combined for an one-hitter.

Offensively the AirHogs were held to five hits but made them count for two runs. Andres Rodriguez had one hit but it was a big one as he took it up and over the left field wall for his 13th homer of the season. Rian Kinary went 2-for-3 in the game including a double. Angel Flores went 1-for-3 scoring the other run off a Brandon Pinckney RBI. Chad Mozingo went 1-for-3 in the game breaking up Amarillo Sox pitcher Jason Johnson's no-hitter.

The win for Grand Prairie leaves the AirHogs in solid position in the South Division race as they are now a game in front of the third-place Amarillo Sox. The AirHogs and Sox will meet one more time Thursday night at QuikTrip Park starting at 7:05 P.M. Last week's pitcher of the week Derek Blacksher will get the start for the AirHogs.
