
New Pitcher Joins Cougars

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, have announced that pitcher Josh Davis has joined the Cougars from the Cubs' spring training complex in Arizona while pitcher James Pugliese has been placed on the disabled list. Today's roster move maintains an active squad of 25 players. Davis is active for this afternoon's 1 p.m. game between the Cougars and Lake County Captains at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark. Davis (Non-drafted free agent, 2013) was signed by the Cubs last summer and appeared in 12 games with rookie-level Mesa, going 3-1 with a 4.50 ERA. As a collegian, Davis tossed 44.2 innings of relief in his final season at Belmont University and was named to the National Pitcher of the Year Watch List and the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Watch List.
