New Orleans VooDoo to be heard and seen weekly on the airwaves

The entire 16-game schedule, as well as several team-themed programs, will surround the extensive coverage of the Arena Football League's inaugural season as they embark on their season opener this Sunday, February 8, at the Philadelphia Soul.

The VooDoo will be on network television for 10 of the team's 16 games. They are scheduled to be broadcast regionally on NBC, seen locally on WDSU, Channel 6. Sunday's season opener at Philadelphia, at 2 p.m. CT will be broadcast to close to 30% of the nation, featuring NBC's top broadcast team of Tom Hammond, Pat Haden and Lewis Johnson.

Cox Sports Television is scheduled to televise the VooDoo's remaining six games. Todd Kalas, son of veteran broadcaster Harry Kalas, will handle play-by-play. Selected New Orleans Saints coaches, front office executives and players will serve as analysts on a rotating basis and Harry McCulla will handle sideline duties. Kalas, a 15-year broadcasting veteran, has done play-by-play and hosted pre and post game shows for the N.Y. Mets, Philadelphia Phillies, and currently the New Orleans Zephyrs and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. McCulla, currently serves as the sports director at HTV in Houma after holding the same position at WGNO ABC 26 in New Orleans for two years. Cox Sports Television will also broadcast "Inside VooDoo with Mike Neu", a coaches show featuring VooDoo coach Mike Neu, hosted by local broadcasting veteran Ken Trahan. The half-hour coaches show will be shown at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays and will then be re-broadcast on gameday prior to the team's kickoff. Trahan, has extensive experience in both play-by-play and as a studio host with the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Zephyrs and currently the University of New Orleans

The New Orleans VooDoo will be heard throughout the Gulf South region. All 16 games will be heard on WWL-AM 870 or WSMB-AM 1350. Included in the game broadcasts will be a 30-minute pregame show as well as a 30-minute post-game show. Chris Kenyon will be the play-by-play voice of the VooDoo. Various celebrities and New Orleans Saints coaches, front office executives and players will serve as game analysts throughout the season, such as Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis, cornerback Ashley Ambrose, wide receiver Michael Lewis and running back Fred McAfee. Kenyon has ten years of broadcasting experience and most recently was heard on the South Louisiana airways as the voice of the East Coast Hockey League's Baton Rouge Kingfish hockey team for their first six seasons. Loomis will serve as color analyst for Sunday's season opener at Philadelphia, which will be heard on WWL. Kenyon and Kenny Wilkerson also will co-host the Mike Neu Show, which can be heard on Tuesday evenings from 9-10 on WWL.
