AFL's first ever national weekly television program debuts on Fox Sports Net February 9
February 4, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK â The Arena Football League today announced a new weekly television program that will make its national debut on Fox Sports Net (FSN) on Monday, February 9.
The 30-minute program, "AFL Weekly," will air on FSN each Monday at 3:30 p.m. local time. FSN regionals will also have the opportunity to air the program at other times throughout the week. A total of 21 episodes will air during the 2004 season.
"AFL Weekly is another outlet to showcase AFL players and the game to fans throughout the season," said MARC LOWITZ, AFL Vice President of Broadcast and New Media. "The show, along with Fox Sports Net's audience, complements and supports our games on NBC and our teams' local broadcasters while providing an additional avenue for our corporate partners."
The show, hosted by Patrick O'Neal of Fox Sports Net's "Totally Football" and "Ultimate Fantasy Football," will include segments on the AFL's previous and upcoming week's games, focused match-ups, AFL fantasy football, and interviews with players, coaches and other AFL personalities.
"With the current AFL management and owners showing a strong desire and the capability to bring the AFL to the next level, this show allows us to be more involved with the league," said MARC FEIN, Vice President, Acquistions, Fox Sports Net. "Telecasting a weekly highlights show is a perfect complement to the AFL games several of our regions air."
