New Mexico United News Release
Albuquerque, NM - Following an improbable run that saw New Mexico United fight their way from a 7% chance of making the USL Championship Playoffs to clinching on the final matchday, the Black & Yellow have learned who their opponent will be in the postseason's first round, as well as the date and time of that opening round match.
United will travel to the City of Trees to take on top-seeded Sacramento Republic FC. The match will be played on Saturday, October 21st, with kickoff set for 8 PM MT. New Mexico is the hottest team in the Western Conference, coming off three straight wins against top five teams in their respective conferences to defy the odds and qualify for their fourth postseason appearance in their five-year history.
The winner of Saturday's match will take on the winner of Colorado Springs Switchbacks FS and San Antonio FC in the second round of the USL Championship Playoffs. If United wins, they will travel to either of those locations. If Sacramento wins, they will host either of those teams.
