(Albuquerque, NM) - The New Mexico Ice Wolves© today announced the debut of special Salute to Veterans and Military Families jerseys for Veterans Day games this Friday and Saturday, November 10-11. The NM Ice Wolves game-worn jerseys will be available for fans and collectors on Dash Auctions with proceeds going to Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico. Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico is a 501c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to providing Veterans with honor and closure by taking them free of charge to reflect on their respective memorials in Washington, D.C. Priority is currently being given to World War II and Korean War Veterans as well as terminally ill veterans from other conflicts.
NM Ice Wolves players will wear the special Salute to Veterans and Military Families jerseys in games against South Division rival the Amarillo Wranglers on Friday and Saturday, November 10-11 at 6:30pm MT at Outpost Ice Arenas in Albuquerque with Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico President Adeline Herrera performing a ceremonial puck drop ahead of Saturday night's game. The Salute to Veterans and Military Families jersey auction will go live on the NM Ice Wolves Dash Auctions page starting Friday, November 10 at 6:30pm MT and will end on Sunday, November 19 at 10pm MT. The NM Ice Wolves Dash Auction page will also feature a Buy Now option for the special jerseys for $750 with proceeds still going to Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico. The special uniforms were designed by the team and K1 Sportswear to reflect the organization's support and respect for veterans and military families through a red, white and blue theme. There is a medallion for each of the US Armed Forces and an American flag on the neck of each jersey. The shoulders feature a flag-themed patriotic logo while on the chin of the Ice Wolves' logo, flying over the Sandia Mountains is a C-130, Osprey and an F-16 as a nod to the importance of Kirtland Air Force Base in the Albuquerque community. The logo on the front of the jersey is a further nod to the Air Force history in the state as the logo is meant to use a reflection of the U.S. Air Force in honoring all active and veterans of the US Armed Forces. The aviator glasses are turquoise, the color of the state stone and one of the primary team colors. Reflected in the aviators is a flash of the Zia symbol as the snout detail always shows. Finally, the nose on the logo is a shout out to the amazing Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta that takes place annually in our community and attracts so much attention worldwide.
