Viewers through HockeyTV and New Mexico Sports Network viewers are in for a treat with this weekend's home series against the Wichita Falls Warriors (TX) as the team will play in their special unforms of the season, when they wear Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) jerseys. Jim Bergquist, the creator of the team's award winning logo, also created the special logo that is the center of these special jerseys. The New Mexico Ice Wolves engaged K1 Sportswear, the official uniform partner of the NAHL to create unique jerseys which the players will wear and fans and collectors will have the ability to purchase via auction.
These special jerseys are a nod to the Mexican culture that Día de los Muertos represents and embodies one of the New Mexican traditions that make this state special. The special jerseys feature a take on the NM Ice Wolves award-winning logo, much turquoise blue represents both the state stone and the 300+ days of annual sunshine in New Mexico. The red and yellow are the state colors of New Mexico and the only colors used in the state flag. The entire uniform ties together to represent the celebration of life that Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, embraces every 1st and 2nd day of November.
The NM Ice Wolves game worn Día de los Muertos jerseys are available for fans and collectors via Dash Auctions through Sunday, November 7, 2021. Fans and collectors visit the Dash website browser or can download the app on either Google Play or Apple App Store to make bids on players' game worn uniforms. The 2020-2021 season also marked two historic firsts for the organization with forward Cole Hanson becoming the first ever NM Ice Wolves player to be named to the All-NAHL 1st Team and the league's All-South Division Team. Nikolai Dulak was honored to be named to the NAHL South Division All-Rookie team and All-NAHL Rookie Second team. Spencer Rudrud, Jack Bayless, Brandon Holt and Owen Parker were all named to and participated in the NAHL Top Prospects tournament in June as part of the league's Robertson Cup championship week in Blaine, MN. Dulak, Holt and Parker are back with the NM Ice Wolves this season.
