July 14, 2019 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
New Jersey Jackals News Release

Unlike the previous three games of the series, the Sunday matinee between the New Jersey Jackals and Quebec Capitales was a back and forth match that came down to the wire. Quebec had two men in scoring position in the top of the 9th but Dylan Brammer struck out Rian Kiniry to secure the 4-3 win for the Jackals and a series split.

Lendy Castillo started the game for the Jackals in just his fourth start of the season. Quebec scratched across one run in the 1st inning and one in the 3rd to take a 2-0 lead but the Jackals got one run back in the bottom of that inning on a 2 out RBI double from Conrad Gregor that drove in Nelson Ward.

The Jackals took the lead in the bottom of the 5th. Sthervin Matos started the rally with a leadoff single. After Jason Agresti moved him over to second on a groundout, Ward lined a base hit to make the score 2-2. With Santiago Chirino up, Ward stole second base which set up an RBI single from Chirino to give the Jackals their first lead of the day.

Quebec tied the game in the 6th after a single from TJ White and a Castillo balk, Manduley drove in White.

But, in the bottom of the 7th, the Jackals quickly took back the lead when Jason Agresti led off the inning with a double over the center fielder Tyson Gillies head.

Two batters later, Chirino doubles down the left field line, scoring Agresti who was the winning run in the Jackals 4-3 win.

Chirino was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI and Castillo went 6 innings, letting up 2 earned runs with 7 hits and 7 strikeouts. Ismael Cabrera got the win for the Jackals, pitching the 7th and 8th innings.

The Jackals will be back in action on Wednesday when they take on the Sussex Miners in a doubleheader at Yogi Berra Stadium. Game 1 will start at 11:05 and game 2 will start at 7:05.
