Ottawa 18, Sussex County 15 - Box Score
Ottawa scored four runs in the eighth inning to take a 16-13 lead and would go on from there to defeat Sussex County in an absolute wild affair, 18-15. This contest took 4 hours and 36 minutes to complete and will go down as the longest nine-inning game in Can-Am League history. Both teams at Skylands Stadium combined for 33 runs on 31 hits.
The Champions pounded out 20 hits in the contest with six batters collecting at least two of them. Ottawa 1B Vincent Guglietti led the way at the plate going 5-for-6 with two runs scored and four RBIs. Champions LF Brian Portelli scored three runs and drove in four in a 2-for-5 night while CF Steve Brown and 2B Leonardo Reginatto each banged out three hits and scored three times.
The Miners took a 10-0 lead after three innings of play only to see Ottawa comeback with four runs in the fourth and eight more in the sixth to take a 12-10 advantage. Sussex County plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth to regain the lead at 13-12 but the Champions took the lead back for good with their four-run eighth.
Ottawa pitcher Heath Bowers allowed an unearned run in 1 2/3 innings of work and notched his second victory of the year. Bowers gave up two walks and struck out three in the seven batters he faced.
For Sussex County in the loss, 3B Jarred Mederos had a 2-for-4 night with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs.
Trois-Rivieres 10, Rockland 3 - Box Score
Trois-Rivieres jumped out to a 7-3 lead after three innings of play and would cruise from there to beat Rockland by a 10-3 score. With the victory, the Aigles took three of four in the series.
There were 13 hits collected by Trois-Rivieres with four batters contributing multi-hit games. Aigles 3B/SS Tucker Nathans went 3-for-6 with a home run and two RBIs while RF Michael Suchy added two hits in four at-bats along with two runs scored and an RBI. Center fielder Raphael Gladu also helped the Trois-Rivieres offense by scoring three runs and driving in one in a 2-for-4 outing.
Aigles starting pitcher Brandon Barker allowed two earned runs in five innings of work and notched his third win of the season. Barker gave up eight hits and struck out five in an 86-pitch performance.
Catcher Blake Grant-Parks had a 3-for-4 day with two RBIs in the loss for the Boulders.
New Jersey 4, Quebec 3 - Box Score
Shortstop Santiago Chirino doubled home C Jason Agresti with the go-ahead run in the seventh inning as New Jersey edged past Quebec, 4-3.
Agresti led off the seventh with a double. After the next batter, 2B Nelson Ward, flew out to center field, Chirino came up and picked-up the big hit to score Agresti and give the Jackals the lead for good.
Chirino went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in while Ward collected a hit in three official at-bats along with two runs and an RBI. In total, New Jersey had nine hits in the contest.
Jackals reliever Ismael Cabrera tossed two scoreless innings of relief and earned the victory. The righty allowed a hit and a walk in the seven batters that he faced. With the win, Cabrera is now 2-0 on the season.
For Quebec in the losing effort, LF David Salgueiro had a 1-for-2 game with a run and two walks.
