New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The Pioneers avenged being shutout on Tuesday, with a 7-3 win over the New Jersey Jackals at Dunn Field on Wednesday night.

The Pios scored early looking to make amends for the prior nights performance. They tallied two runs off Brad Whitworth in the bottom of the first, for the early lead.

New Jersey put their first run on the board in the top of the third, on an RBI single by Ricardo Cordova. Elmira would get it back quickly in the bottom of the third when Ryan Morgan doubled home Onix Mercado.

Down 3-1 in the sixth, the Jackals scored two to tie the score. Steve Checksfield and Tyler Brock both drove in runs. But for the second time in the night, the Pioneers would get the runs back, and this time more. They scored four runs against New Jersey's Julio Perez, to pull ahead 7-3, and win the game by that score.

Glen Keeton got the win in six strong innings, while Julio Perez suffered the loss in his second relief appearance with the Jackals. Keeton improved to 3-0 in 2005.

Elmira's Jason Tuttle went 4-5 with two runs scored. Ryan Morgan was also 3-5 with two doubles and two RBIs for the Pioneers. Ricardo Cordova, Sandy Madera, and Tyler Brock all had two hits for the Jackals.
