WEEKLY WRAP-UP: The Cardinals went 3-4 last week. After taking 2 out of 3 from Batavia (Philadelphia Phillies), they were swept in a three game set by Auburn (Toronto Blue Jays) and took the series opener from Williamsport (Pittsburgh Pirates). They are currently 5-7 on the season and in 4th place of the MacNamara Division of the New York-Penn League, 3 games behind division leading Brooklyn (New York Mets). New Jersey is 1-6 at home and 4-1 on the road.

BIRDS WITH BATS: The Cardinals are batting .204 as a team, 10th in the league&2B Jarrett Hoffpauir was promoted to the Peoria Chiefs (Single A) on Sunday after batting .361 (13-for-36) with 3 home runs in 9 games&At the time of his promotion he led the league in home runs and ranked 2nd in slugging percentage (.694), 5th in extra-base hits (6) and 6th in hits (13)&1B Casey Grimm had his 6-game hitting streak snapped when recorded an 0-for-3 night against Auburn on Saturday&During his streak he batted .391 (9-for-23)&He also snapped an 8-game streak of reaching base safely on Monday against Auburn&OF Kyle Boyer snapped a 4-game hitting streak on Monday&OF Sean Dobson is in the middle of a 4-game hitting streak&3B Jake Mullinax recorded a Cards season-high 4 hits during a 5-4 win over Batavia on June 25&He has hit safely in each of his last 3 games, going 5-for-13 (.385) with 2 RBI&OF Marcos Rodriguez hit safely in his third consecutive game on Tuesday at Williamsport&He is 5-for-11 (.455) with 2 doubles, a triple and a RBI during the streak&1B Andrew Davie popped his first home run of the season on Tuesday as he went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI.

CARDINALS HURLERS: The Cards have a 4.64 team ERA, 11th in the league&RHP Justin Brown was called-up to Peoria after making two appearances for the Cardinals, going 0-1 with a 3.24 ERA&RHP Cory Doyne made three scoreless appearances this week, pitching 5.2 innings, allowing 3 hits and 3 walks while striking out 11&RHP Chris Bova has pitched 3.2 consecutive scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 2.25 (8.0 IP, 2 ER)&RHP Miguel Aguero suffered his first loss of the season on Monday night after giving up 5 earned runs on 8 hits in 5.1 innings pitched&The right-hander pitched well in his other start last week, pitching 6 innings and surrendering only one run and registering a no decision on June 23&LHP Scott Schweitzer picked up the win in his first appearance of the season Tuesday at Williamsport after striking out the side in the only inning he pitched...RHP Derek Roper made two starts last week, picking up his 2nd win of the season last Thursday after pitching 5 strong innings, allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, and striking out 6&On Tuesday, he was tagged for 6 earned runs in 4 innings pitched as he picked up a no decision.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The Cards finish up their two-game set at Williamsport tonight, then travel to Brooklyn for the series opener. Friday night, the club returns to Skylands Park to take on the Cyclones. Condit Toyota and The Daily Record sponsor a fireworks show that will take place after the game. New Jersey then travels to Aberdeen, Maryland, to take on the Ironbirds (Baltimore Orioles) in a two-game weekend set.
