New England Revolution at Seattle Sounders FC Game Notes

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - Refreshed following an 11-day layoff and its first off weekend since mid-April, the New England Revolution returns to action on Thursday, Aug. 20, when the club makes its first-ever visit to Qwest Field to battle Seattle Sounders FC. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes beginning at 10 p.m. ET, while the match will also be available in high definition on ESPN2 HD. Local radio listeners can catch the action in English on the WEEI Radio Network, while ESPN Deportes Radio will carry the game nationally in Spanish.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Revs and Sounders, who became Major League Soccer's 15th club when they began play as an expansion team this season. It will be the first of two regular-season meetings between New England and Seattle in 2009, as the Revolution will host the Sounders at Gillette Stadium for the first time on Sept. 26 to conclude the season series.

The Revolution and Sounders both played their last matches against the LA Galaxy, but with different outcomes. Steve Ralston's late penalty kick conversion wasn't enough for the Revs, who dropped a 2-1 decision to the Galaxy on Saturday, Aug. 8, at Gillette Stadium. The Sounders, meanwhile, made the most of David Beckham's 17th-minute red card and used goals from Steve Zakuani and Fredy Montero to coast to a 2-0 win over LA at The Home Depot Center on Saturday, Aug. 15.
