New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution have acquired defender Samba Camara via transfer from French Ligue 2 side Le Havre. Camara, a 27-year-old center back with eight years of experience in France's second, third, fourth divisions, will be added to the roster using Targeted Allocation Money (TAM) upon receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Camara's career totals include 140 appearances with 136 starts, two goals, and three assists in more than 12,000 minutes played across all competitions. He began his professional career in 2012 with AM Neiges Le Havre, before joining Le Havre AC ahead of the 2013-14 campaign.
"We are pleased to add Samba Camara to our roster. He's an athletic left-footed defender who fills a void that we've had in our back line," said Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena. "He will add quality and depth to our center-back positions and we look forward to welcoming him to New England."
The Le Havre, France native has featured extensively for both Le Havre's first team in Ligue 2 as well as Le Havre II in France's Championnat National 2 and National 3 over the last seven years. Camara's totals with Le Havre's senior side include more than 5,600 minutes played across 65 appearances, while his totals with Le Havre II include 38 appearances - all starts - and more than 3,200 minutes played.
Born in France, Camara holds dual citizenship in France and Mali.
