(York, PA): The York Revolution have announced the signings of four new players for the 2009 season, all making their Atlantic League debuts. The club has locked up right-handed pitchers Steve Green and Bob Zimmermann, left-handed pitcher Daryl Harang, and infielder Jeff Eure. The deals, announced by director of baseball operations Adam Gladstone, increase the preseason roster count to 20 signed players with only two weeks remaining before Opening Day.

Green becomes the eighth pitcher with major league experience to join the Revolution for the upcoming season. The Quebec native made one start for the Angels in 2001, and allowed just two runs over six innings in a no-decision against Oakland. He has pitched at the Triple-A level in each of his last eight seasons with four different organizations. Green pitched for Triple-A Lehigh Valley in the Phillies organization last season, going 5-1 with a 3.09 ERA in 35 games, including one start. The 31-year-old is an accomplished veteran of the Canadian National Team, pitching for Canada in the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classics. He also helped propel Canada into the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, winning two games and firing 6.2 scoreless innings in the Olympic Baseball Qualification Tournament in 2007. He has pitched for Canada on the 1996 Junior National Team, and in the 1999 Pan-Am Games, winning a bronze medal. The right-hander has performed as both a starter and reliever over the course of his 10-year career.

Zimmermann projects to be a late-inning option out of the bullpen, having saved 46 games in six seasons, including a career-high 24 saves in 2004 at Single-A Cedar Rapids. The St. Louis native was drafted in the fourth round by the Angels in 2003, following an All-American collegiate career at Southwest Missouri State University. He has reached Double-A with the Angels, Yankees, and Cardinals. Last season, the 27-year-old split time at Double-A Springfield with the Cardinals, and Single-A Great Lakes in the Dodgers organization. He owns a 4.08 career ERA in 189 minor league games.

Harang has spent his entire five-year career in the Blue Jays organization, after being drafted by the club in the 23rd round of the 2004 draft. Following four solid seasons, he ascended to Double-A New Hampshire last season, and went 4-6 with a 5.10 ERA in an Eastern League-leading 59 games out of the Fisher Cats' bullpen. All but one of his 184 career appearances have come in relief. The 26-year-old owns a 15-14 career record with a 3.87 ERA. He is the younger brother of Cincinnati Reds pitcher Aaron Harang, and is the second member of the Revs 2009 roster with a brother on the Reds. He joins catcher Luis Taveras, whose younger brother Willy patrols the outfield for Cincinnati.

Eure brings versatility to the Revolution infield, especially at the corner positions, and has also played outfield and has caught during his professional career. In fact, on the final day of the 2006 season with Double-A Huntsville, he played all nine positions and recorded the save for the Stars on the mound. A native of nearby Sunbury, PA and a product of Upper Dauphin High School where he was a two-time state wrestling champion, Eure spent his first seven seasons in the Brewers system, reaching Double-A in 2006 and 2007. He also spent part of 2007 at Double-A Wichita in the Royals organization. Last season, Eure batted .290 with 13 homeruns for Fargo-Moorhead of the Northern League.

"With Green, we're getting a pitcher with significant Triple-A experience who will be given an opportunity to join our starting rotation, and he looks forward to thriving in that role," said Gladstone. "Zimmermann is a back-end of the bullpen guy who is coming in with something to prove. He is another player that has ties to current members of our roster, having been recommended by Jason Aspito. Harang is a younger lefty with an upside. He has good career numbers and much like Green, will be given an opportunity to start. Eure is coming off a good year in the Northern League last season, his first in independent baseball. He has an opportunity to provide some consistency out of our corner positions offensively and defensively."

The Revs now have 11 pitchers, four infielders, four outfielders, and one catcher under contract for the 2009 season.

All tickets for the 2009 season are on sale now. Opening Day is May 1 against the Lancaster Barnstormers.
