
Nettles Leads Way to 4-2 Win for Patriots

Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 4-2 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.
Jeff Nettles drove a double to left-center in the bottom of the seventh that plated two runners and broke a 2-2 tie to lift Somerset past the Bluefish 4-2.
The Bluefish scored first in the top of the fourth inning on a solo homerun by Brock Peterson (13) to give them a 1-0 lead.
Somerset answered right back in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Yusuf Carter and a sacrifice fly by Dan DeGeorge for the 2-1 advantage.
A wild pitch by Roy Merritt allowed Kennard Jones to come around to score in the fifth for Bridgeport to tie the game up at two.
Merritt (5-1) got the win after allowing two runs on five hits in seven innings of work. Kyle Zaleski (2-2) suffered the loss, surrendering two runs on three hits in two innings pitched. Josh Rupe picked up his 11th save of the season after tossing a scoreless ninth.
