North Carolina FC News Release

CARY, NC - Following a two-game stint on the road, North Carolina FC returns to WakeMed Soccer Park to face Union Omaha for the first time this season in their Pride Night match. Tickets are available here, and NCFC players will don Pride pre-match tops ahead of kickoff. The contest will be available to stream on ESPN+.

Last Time Out

North Carolina FC fell to the Richmond Kickers on the road last Saturday, with Oalex Anderson adding the goal for the North Carolina side. Emiliano Terzaghi picked up a pair of goals for the Kickers, with Jonathan Bolanos and Owayne Gordon each scoring a goal apiece to secure three points for Richmond.

After spending the better part of the first half deadlocked at 0-0, it was Anderson that finally broke the ice for the North Carolina side in the 41st minute. Intercepting a passback by a Richmond player, Garrett McLaughlin catalyzed the scoring play, splitting two defenders and leading Anderson with a ball into the box. Taking a single touch, Anderson placed his shot at the far post, scoring his fifth goal of the season against his former team to grab a 1-0 lead to conclude the first half.

Richmond answered in the 59th minute as Terzaghi scored the equalizer, and edged into the lead in the 63rd minute as Bolanos scored his third goal of the season. Later, Gordon collected Richmond's third score of the night in the 75th, and Terzaghi recorded the brace to extend the lead to 4-1. As the clock wound down, NCFC fought to recover the deficit, but were unable to find the net as time expired.

Players to Watch

North Carolina FC - #9 Oalex Anderson

Netting a goal in NCFC's most recent match against the Richmond Kickers, Anderson has collected five goals and four assists across 12 appearances this year, also earning back-to-back Team of the Week honors in Week Six and Week Seven. Currently in sixth place in the USL League One table, earning three points in Saturday's tilt will be vital for the North Carolina side should they hope to remain in playoff contention and competitive for a place at the top of the standings. With a match against last year's League One champions on the horizon, Anderson will look to challenge the Union Omaha backline with a combination of his playmaking ability and tactical skill on the ball, in hopes of adding his name to the scoresheet in consecutive matches.

Union Omaha - #24 Rashid Nuhu

Tallying 15 saves on the season, Nuhu has only conceded six goals through nine matches played. The Ghanian international has also registered six catches and four punches, leading USL League One in clean sheets alongside Greenville's Paul Christensen with five. As the Owls prepare to face NCFC for the first time this season, a clash between the league's Golden Boot leader and Golden Glove leader is at hand, as Nuhu looks to defend the net against one of the most dangerous attacking duos in the league in Garrett McLaughlin and Oalex Anderson.

Up Next: North Carolina FC will travel to face the Chattanooga Red Wolves for the second time this season at CHI Memorial Stadium in Chattanooga, TN on Saturday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. ET. The match will be available live on ESPN+.
