NC Courage Score Pair of Preseason Wins

Cary, NC (March 4, 2018)- The North Carolina Courage continued its preseason success this week as the team defeated both NC State and Tennessee. Goals from Jessica McDonald, Darian Jenkins, Kristen Hamilton and Ryan Williams resulted in a 4-0 victory over the Wolfpack on Thursday, March 1. On Sunday afternoon, Darian Jenkins and Kristen Hamilton provided the two goals in the shutout win over the Vols.

"Delighted with the week as the group has continued to evolve and build on our principles," said NC Courage Head Coach Paul Riley. "Both performances this week were clean, professional, and embraced some of the foundation work we have been working on in practice. With eleven players not available, I was worried we would be unsettled and have no rhythm, but there has been some excellent football played."

"We have been really impressed with some of our newcomers," he continued. "The returning players have provided a nurturing environment and the group has worked tremendously hard to make up for some missing pieces. Preseason always excites me and always surprises me and 2018 has been no different. Pumped to see how much the group can develop and grow through an eight month season."

The NC Courage returns to preseason action on Sunday, March 11 as they take on Clemson at WakeMed Soccer Park. Below is their training schedule for the remainder of the week.
