
NBA G League News & Notes: NBA All-Star 2022

CLEMONS AND THE CELTICS: Maine Celtics guard Chris Clemons was named NBA G League Player of the Week for games played Monday, Feb. 7 through Sunday, Feb. 13. Clemons guided Maine to a 2-0 week, averaging a triple-double of 28.5 points, 13.5 rebounds and 12.0 assists.
NBA ALL-STAR CONNECTIVITY: On 2021-22 NBA start-of-season rosters, 41 percent of the players (205) had NBA G League experience. That number has climbed to 54.5 percent (272) as of Feb. 11. No- table NBA G League alumni participating in NBA All- Star 2022 include Rudy Gobert, Khris Middleton, Fred VanVleet and Dejounte Murray. Through Feb. 11, there have been a record 123 GATORADE Call-Ups.
RISING GEMS: The 2022 Clorox Rising Stars will feature four elite young players from NBA G League Ignite - MarJon Beauchamp, Dyson Daniels, Jaden Hardy, and Scoot Henderson. Joining the quartet in Rising Stars will be Houston's Jalen Green, the first player to sign with Ignite for the 2020-21 season. Ig- nite's Michael Foster Jr. and Fanbo Zeng will also participate in the Clorox Clutch Challenge. Ignite will take on the Cleveland Charge in the inaugural NBA G League Next Gem Game on Sunday, Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. ET, live on NBA TV.
Amid breakout seasons, San Antonio's Dejounte Murray and Toronto's Fred VanVleet both earned their first career NBA All-Star se- lections. Murray, the league leader in steals (2.1 spg), will play for Team Durant while Van- Vleet, the NBA Player of the Week for Week 12, will be on Team Lebron.
Also on Team Durant will be Milwaukee's Khris Middleton and Utah's Rudy Gobert. This is the third career All-Star selection for both players. Middleton made history during NBA All-Star 2019 when he became the first NBA G League Alum to play in the All-Star Game.
Brooklyn's Patty Mills, the Clippers' Luke Kennard, New Orleans' C.J. McCollum and Fred VanVleet, four prolific shooters with NBA G League roots, will com- pete in the 2022 MTN DEW 3-Point Contest.
Two brothers will represent the NBA G League in the 2022 Taco Bells Skill Chal- lenge when the Raptors 905's Alex Antetokounmpo and Milwaukee's Thanasis Antetokounmpo team up with the Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Golden State's Juan Toscano-Anderson, who spent two years with the Santa Cruz Warriors, will compete in the 2022 AT&T Slam Dunk. He is the fourth undrafted player to compete in the AT&T Slam Dunk since 2000. Jalen Green will also be in the field.
