NBA D-League Family Tips Off First Ever NBA D-League Fit Week

NEW YORK, Feb. 22, 2010The NBA D-League, its teams, and players this week tipped off the 2010 NBA D-League FIT Week. NBA D-League teams will host a variety of hands-on events and programs through Feb. 28 in a collaborative effort to encourage children and families to lead healthy, active lives.
Throughout the week, NBA D-League teams will join with community members and partners in an effort to support health education and fitness programs through several events including:
The Austin Toros will attend physical education classes at Barbara Jordan Elementary School to visit with students and encourage them to be active every day. Students will also be invited to attend a Toros game that week to participate in an on-court fitness event.
The Iowa Energy will host a pre-game D-League FIT clinic for local youngsters inviting them to participate in several activities that emphasize the importance of healthy living.
The Springfield Armor will host an in-arena "Health and Fitness Awareness Night" where they will provide health education materials from local fitness experts, lead fans in workouts, and more.
The Reno Bighorns will conduct fitness and health programming throughout the week highlighted by a D-League FIT Camp for local boys and girls.
The Maine Red Claws will host an in-arena "Go Red Night" in partnership with the American Heart Association. The evening will feature heart health awareness videos, a halftime workout with fans, and a raffle to support the American Heart Association.
The Fort Wayne Mad Ants will announce the Mad Ants Fitness Challenge winning schools. Students will be invited to a pep rally followed by a Mad Ants game on "Fitness Night" where they will receive in-arena recognition.
