North Shore Navigators News Release

Lynn, MA- Last evening, the North Shore Navigators had an extremely busy but successful night. On the field, the Navigators welcomed the 2013 season at home in front of a packed Fraser Field with a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, but the Navigators were just as successful off the field. One current and one former Navigator were drafted in Major League Baseball's amateur draft.

Crayton Bare (Baylor) was selected in the 28th round by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bare spent last season with the Navigators going 3-0 with a 2.73 ERA in 4 starts. Bare struck out 39 batters in 29.2 innings while only giving up 24 hits. Bare did not give up more than three earned runs in a start. This season for Baylor, Bare went 6-2 with a 3.38 ERA. In 53.1 innings, Bare recorded 54 strikeouts while only surrendering 22 walks. Bare was able to keep opposing batters to a .247 batting average.

Ryley MacEachern (Salisbury School/Stony Brook) was selected in the 37thround by the Philadelphia Phillies. MacEachern, who graduated from Salisbury School in May, finished the season with a record of 6-0, striking out 70 batters in 40.1 innings. The young right-handed pitcher tops his fastball at 92 MPH and is regarded to be one of the elite members of his draft class in New England. MacEachern is slated to start on Tuesday for the Navigators.

"It feels amazing," said MacEachern. "I was sitting there seeing the rounds tick away, so naturally I was a little worried, but then I saw my named pop up and I felt the weight of the world lifted off my shoulders. We will see what happens from here but for now I will just keep doing work for the Navigators"

The Navigators return home on Friday June 14th when they play host to the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 with a fireworks show following the game. Season tickets and party deck reservations are available now by calling the Navs at (781) 595-9400. For details and schedule information "like" us on Facebookand follow us on Twitter .
