December 23, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Tacoma Navigators News Release

(TACOMA, WA)-The Tacoma Navigators professional basketball team got a 37-point performance from star guard Tim Ellis and 30 points from his guard running mate, Jimmie Haywood, but it wasn't enough to overtake the physical, athletic San Jose Skyrockets Thursday night, falling 105-103. Ellis and Haywood are both from Seattle high schools: Rainier Beach and Franklin, respectively. San Jose moved back on top of the Ron Boone Division with a 7-3 record, while Tacoma dropped into second place at 5-3.

San Jose was led by combo guard Smith, who tallied 33 for the victors, including the game-winner with 3 seconds left on the clock. The Skyrockets led most of the game, taking a 28-21 lead after the first period before being overtaken by Tacoma at halftime 54-52. The game had five lead changes in the third period, and was tied at 103 with 17 seconds remaining when Smith nailed a runner for the win. Smith led five San Jose players in double figures, including Lumpkin (12), Newton (13), Luedtke (10), Winston (12) and Castille (15). Rashaad Powell and Jamal Miller joined Ellis and Haywood in double figure with 18 and 15 points respectively.
