
Naturals fall to Jackson on Saturday

SURPRISE, AZ. - Despite solid offensive performances from Kenneth Diekroeger and Matt Fields, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals were defeated by the Jackson Generals 7-5 on Saturday. The Generals are the Double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
Diekroeger, the Royals' fourth-round draft pick in the 2012 First-Year Player draft, went two-for-two with two singles and an RBI. Diekroeger spent the 2012 season with Rookie-Advanced Burlington. Fields was one-for-four with a triple and two RBI. Fields batted .281 in 67 games for Class-A Advanced Wilmington after signing with the Royals out of the independent Can-Am League.
Michael Giovenco gave up one hit in a scoreless inning of work. Giovenco spent the majority of the 2012 season with Class-A Kane County, posting a 5-3 record with a 4.34 ERA in 32 appearances.
