POTOMAC NATIONALS (1-1, 38-31) VS. WILMINGTON BLUE ROCKS (1-1, 39-32) RHP Terrence Engles (0-2, 4.80) vs. RHP Mario Santiago (3-7, 4.20)

TODAY: The Potomac Nationals and Wilmington Blue Rocks will finish off their first series of the second half with a rubber matchup from Frawley Stadium beginning at 6:05 p.m. Despite owning a league-best 24 road victories this season, the P-Nats have had trouble finishing what they start as they are just 8-11 in series finales this season and just 2-6 in rubber games of three-game series. Wilmington finale broke from the hex placed on them by Potomac by scoring eight times on 10 hits in Friday's 8-7 victory over the P-Nats. Prior to that victory, the Blue Rocks were outscored 18-3 and were 0-5 against Trent Jewett's ballclub in their home stadium. After winning seven of the first 10 meetings between these two clubs, the P-Nats have lost three of four to their Northern Division rivals.

TODAYS OPPOSING STARTER: RHP Mario Santiago, 24, was selected in the 16th round by the Kansas City Royals in the 2005 amateur player draft out of Laredo Community College (TX). Born in Guayama, Puerto Rico, Santiago has spent parts of five seasons in the Royals organization compiling a career record of 16-29 with a 4.33 ERA in 81G/67GS. He spent the entire 2008 season pitching for the Blue Rocks where he tossed a career-best 141.2 innings and went 8-8 with a 3.43 ERA against Carolina League competition. Santiago, now 3-7 with a 4.20 ERA this season, has lost his last two starts including a 5-3 decision to the P-Nats from Pfitzner Stadium on June 15 in which he allowed seven hits and five runs (two earned) in 6.0 innings of work. The former Carolina League Pitcher of the week was tagged for five runs on seven hits vs. Winston-Salem in his last appearance June 21.
