THE HILLCATS: Lynchburg got walloped 11-1 last night by Myrtle Beach at City Stadium...The Hillcats try and salvage a win tonight in the series finale of this three-game series with the Pelicans...This contest is the seventh game in a row at Calvin Falwell Field for the Cats...

VS. MYRTLE BEACH: The Hillcats are 7-5 against the Pelicans thus far this season and are 3-2 in the Hill City...Last year the Pelicans took the season series 13-7...Lynchburg was 6-6 against the Birds until they lost seven in a row to drop the series...Myrtle Beach has the all-time advantage in the series 114-97, and they are 52-51 in Lynchburg...

UNCHARTED WATERS: The loss last night has given Lynchburg their first four-game losing streak of the season...The 11 runs they allowed were the most they have allowed all season and it was their biggest margin of defeat all year...After dropping the first two games of the series the Hillcats have ensured just their second series loss of the season at home (they were 8-1-2) and just their fourth series defeat on the season overall (they were 14-3-4)...They also lost the series opener in this set after winning 18 of the first 19 game one contest in the first half...

CITY STADIUM SLUMP: The Hillcats are riding a season-long four-game losing streak, and all four games were lost at Calvin Falwell Field...Prior to the current skid Lynchburg was 23-7 at City Stadium this season...

ONE SIDED AFFAIR: Myrtle Beach has outscored Lynchburg 17-1 through two games in this three-game series and out hit them 24-6...Last night was also the most runs the Hillcats have allowed this season and the biggest margin of defeat all season for the Green & Gold...The Cats went 7-3 against the Birds in the first half...Lynchburg had the best record in the league in the first half and Myrtle Beach had the worst mark...

TAKING ONE FOR THE TEAM: Last night the Hillcats were hit by a pitch three different times by Pelican pitching...They have now been hit by a pitch five times so far in two games in this series...This after a series against Kinston to closeout the first half in which the Cats got plunked by a pitch seven times in four games...Lynchburg has been hit by a pitch 52 times on the season, easily the most of any team in the Carolina League (Myrtle Beach is second with 36)...

ROMAK RETURNS: UTIL Jamie Romak went 0-for-2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch in his return to the Hillcats last night...In 2007, he batted .252 with 15 home runs and 45 RBI in 85 games and in 2008 he hit .279 with 18 homers and 57 RBI in 77 contests...His 33 home runs in the Green & Gold put him in a tie for second place in Hillcats history (six shy of all-time leader Josh Bonifay) and he is 13 RBI short of entering the top ten all-time Cats list for runs batted in...He was reassigned to Lynchburg from Double-A Altoona were he was batting .175 with five home runs and 24 RBI in 64 games...

HEALTHY HAGUE: 1B Matt Hague played his first game since June 12th on Thursday night after missing ten games with an ankle injury he suffered in a collision at home plate in Kinston...Hague went 2-for-4 and had half of the Hillcats hit in their game two loss...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Erik Cordier is slated to throw in game one of the doubleheader for Myrtle Beach...He was originally drafted in the second round by Kansas City in 2004 out of Southern Door high school...That year he made 11 starts with the Royals Arizona League team and went 2-4 with a 5.19 ERA...After missing all of 2005 with a knee injury, Cordier began 2006 with Idaho Falls at the Rookie level and in three starts he went 1-0 with a 3.38 ERA before his promotion to Low-A Burlington...He made seven starts with the Bees and posted a 3-1 record with a 2.70 ERA before his season was cut short due to Tommy John Surgery that would force him to miss all of 2007...In March of that year he was traded to the Braves for INF Tony Pena Jr....Last season he began with the GCL Braves and he did not have a decision or allow a run in three games (two starts)...He advanced to Low-A Rome where he went 1-2 with a 5.18 ERA in nine starts...Cordier has made 11 starts this season for Myrtle Beach, and has gone 3-2 with a 2.89 ERA...Tonight is his third start of the season against Lynchburg, he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in his two outings against the Hillcats...In his last start versus the Cats he tossed a complete game seven-inning shutout on June 16th...
