THIS WEEK: The U.S. National Under-17 Team gets a well-deserved weekend off after playing four games in five days during the course of the U17 Four Nations Cup held at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, Ill. Meanwhile, the Under-18 Team jumps right back into United States Hockey League action, after spending a week in Sweden for the U18 Four Nations Cup, when they take on the Omaha Lancers at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube on Saturday (Nov. 20) at 7 p.m. The following day, the U18s will face the Indiana Ice at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in a Sunday matinee, at 3 p.m.

U18, U17 TEAMS SWEEP FOUR NATIONS: The U18 Team successfully defended its Four Nations Cup title this past week (Nov. 12-14) in Sundsvall, Sweden as they defeated the host-country in the final, with a 5-4 shootout victory. Last year, the U18s captured the 2009 title in Finland.

The U17s also successfully defended their Four Nations Cup title, when they defeated Russia, 6-1, in the championship game held on Saturday, Nov. 13, at Seven Bridges Ice Arena in Woodridge, Ill. The U.S. won the tournament for the second year in a row, having captured the 2009 championship in Trnava, Slovakia.

NHL CENTRAL SCOUTING PRELIM RANKINGS: On Tuesday, the NHL Central Scouting released its preliminary rankings of 2011 draft-eligible players for the top levels of North American junior hockey. Players from the USNTDP accounted for five of the top seven players from the USHL, including forwards Tyler Biggs (Cincinatti, Ohio/No.1), J.T. Miller (East Palestine, Ohio/No. 2), Rocco Grimaldi (Rossmoor, Calif./No. 5) and Adam Reid (Chino Hills, Calif./No. 7) and defenseman Michael Paliotta (Westport, Conn./No. 6). The 2011 NHL Entry Draft will be held on June 24, 2011, in St. Paul, Minnesota.

NTDP ALUMNI UPDATE: Anaheim Ducks rookie Cam Fowler (Farmington Hills, Mich./2007-09) is currently tied for second in NHL rookie defensemen scoring with seven points (1-6) in 13 games played. Colorado Avalanche defenseman John-Michael Liles (Zionsville, Ind./1997-99) ranks fourth amongst NHL defensemen in points, with three goals and 13 assists in 17 games played. Jordan Leopold (Golden Valley, Minn./97-98) ranks ninth on that same list with 13 points (4-9) in 19 games for the Buffalo Sabres.

U.S. NAT'L U18 TEAM NOTES: The U.S. had two players in the top five in scoring during the three game U18 Four Nations Tournament in Sweden. Forward Rocco Grimaldi scored three goals and added three assists and was named the tournament's best forward. Robbie Russo (Westmont, Ill.) tallied two goals and recorded four assists en route to the tournament title by defeating Finland, Switzerland and Sweden. Russo was also the top scoring defensemen in the tournament.

U.S. NAT'L U17 TEAM NOTES: Team USA was represented by six players on the top ten scoring leaders chart in the Four Nations Tournament in Chicago. Forward Miles Koules (Los Angeles, Calif.) paced the U.S with five goals and two assists in four games. Defensemen Brady Skjei (Lakeville, Minn.) followed close behind with two goals and three assists, placing him second on the list, along with Slovakia's Daniel Rzavsky.
