
National Conference edges American in overtime to win CBA All-Star Game

BUTTE, MONTANA, February 6, 2007 - Yakama's Ralph Holmes scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to earn MVP honors as the National Conference held off the American in overtime, 134-131, and capture the 2007 Continental Basketball Association All-Star Game at the Butte Civic Center. The Pittsburgh Xplosion were represented by Rob Griffin and Kevin Pittsnogle at the All-Star game. Griffin finished with eight points, but Pittsnogle was unable to compete do to injury.
A see-saw battle, the American Conference built a 12-point first quarter lead, but led by just three, 33-30 after the opening 12 minutes of play. The Nationals clawed back in the second quarter, winning the period, 34-29, and taking a two pint lead at intermission, 64-62.
The Americans regained the lead in the third quarter, capturing the quarter, 30-26, and the lead in the contest, 92-90 after Indiana's Shaun Fountain hit a three-pointer at the buzzer. Yakama held the lead late in regulation, but Indiana's Erick Barkley connected on a three-bal off the right with with 6.7 secons left to force overtime.
Overtime remained tight, with the National's maintiaing a small buffer and forcing the Americans to make free throws late. It was 134-131 after Yakama's Galen Young hit free throws. Barkley had a chance to force a second overtime, but his halfcourt heave rimmed out as time expired.
