Indiana AlleyCats News Release

Butte, MT (February 7, 2007) - The four Alley Cats, who participated in the CBA All-Star game last night, represented their squad extremely well. In a classic game, the American Conference lost a thriller in overtime to the National Conference, 134-131 in front of 3,283 fans in Butte, Montana.

Former first round NBA draft pick and Alley Cats guard Erick Barkley led the American Conference with 25 points. He hit a three-pointer with 3.4 seconds left that tied the game and forced overtime. In overtime, he scored six points and his desperation shot from just over half-court, which would have tied the game, went in and out at the buzzer.

Rookie J.J. Sullinger tallied 22 points and 8 rebounds in the game and delivered a couple nifty up and under moves around the basket. Shaun Fountain contributed 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists in a nice all-around game. Carl Edwards added 6 points and 2 steals for the American Conference.

Earlier in the night, Edwards participated in the Slam Dunk Contest. Carl's first dunk was a nice windmill slam, which received a score of 45 (out of a possible 50). He followed it up with a monstrous one-handed slam after throwing it off the backboard. This dunk earned him an almost perfect score of 49. His average of 47 put him into the finals along with Anthony Richardson, of the hometown Butte Daredevils. Edwards threw down a couple magnificent windmill jams in the finals for a total of 94 points. Richardson needed a perfect score on his final dunk to win the contest. He pulled off his best Julius Erving impression, as he ran the length of the court and successfully completed the dunk from just inside the free throw line. He received a 50 for the dunk and won the contest by one point.

Following the Dunk Contest, Shaun Fountain competed in the Long Distance Shootout. He scored 10 points in the opening round of shooting, which placed him sixth. He did not advance to the finals. Butte's David Bell had a contest-best 20 points in the opening round. Bell went on to win the shootout (with 17 points in the finals) over Minot's Desmond Ferguson (14), and Albany's Jamario Moon (8). The hometown Butte Daredevils managed to win both skill competitions.

The Alley Cats will host the Albany Patroons to begin play after the All-Star break. The two teams will square off tomorrow night at 7:00 and Sunday afternoon at 3:00. Indiana Alley Cats season tickets and single game tickets are currently on sale.
