National Anthem Tryouts Set for March 2

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (FEBRUARY 5, 2013) - The Winston-Salem Dash have partnered with the Winston-Salem Journal for the 2013 National Anthem Tryouts, which will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 2. The Dash will conduct these tryouts on the lower level of Hanes Mall below the food court.
Registration for the Winston-Salem Journal National Anthem Tryouts begins Wednesday, and only the first 150 entries will be guaranteed an audition. To secure your spot, visit the official registration page here .
No age restrictions apply, and entrants can sing with a group or play an instrument if desired. Those who are not part of the first 150 entries are encouraged to come out to the event and sign up as a stand-by performer.
All winners will have the opportunity to sing the National Anthem at one of the Dash's 70 scheduled home games. The top five highest-scoring contestants will be eligible for the Grand Prize, the right to sing the National Anthem before the Dash's Fourth of July game along with four club seats for that night.
Entrants will audition without music for a panel of celebrity judges, and performances will be recorded. All contestants are asked to dress as if it were game day, and there will be a 90-second time limit.
The Dash will reach out to all participants within two weeks of the tryouts to inform them if they have been named one of the winners.

The Dash's 2013 season begins Friday, April 5, with a road game against the Carolina Mudcats. The home opener is set for 7 p.m. Friday, April 12, also against the Mudcats. Single-game tickets go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday, February 14, while various ticket plans are available now.
