
Nathan Sylvia Reaches 50 Caps

On Saturday, May 28th Nathan Sylvia became the nineteenth player in Major League Rugby to take the pitch for 50 matches.
Nathan Sylvia played football in high school and walked onto the Cal Poly Football team his Freshman year. He then chose to join the Cal Poly Rugby Team where he would begin his early development into a prop - Which he recounted on MLR Kickoff this past season.
Nathan enjoyed exposure to infamous Southern Hemisphere rugby on a trip to Australia where he trained with the Randwick Rugby Club's under-20 squad in 2016. After graduating from Cal Poly he played for San Francisco Golden Gate in the Pacific Rugby Premiership in 2018.
He was signed by San Diego Legion for the 2018 Inaugural MLR season. Since then he has developed into one of the top American props in Major League Rugby and has tallied three career tries.
Major League Rugby is honoring the first 50 players to reach 50 caps, and their role in building the legacy of MLR. The latest of the first seventeen players to reach 50 caps for MLR includes JP Smith of the Seattle Seawolves, John Ryberg of the LA Giltinis and Faka'Osi Pifeleti and Jake Turnbull of the Austin Gilgronis.
