Tulsa Drillers News Release
WICHITA, KS - Los Angeles Dodgers #12 ranked prospect Nick Nastrini put together a magnificent Double-A debut from the mound for the Tulsa Drillers on Thursday night. Nastrini retired the first 17 batters he faced and gave up just one hit, earning his first Double-A win in a 7-3 Tulsa victory over the Wichita Wind Surge at Riverfront Stadium.
The UCLA product did not allow a baserunner until the sixth inning and finished with just one hit allowed in his Drillers debut.
The Tulsa bats backed Nastrini's strong start with two home runs to account for four runs through five innings. In the fourth inning, Andy Pages gave Tulsa its first run with his 22nd home run this season. Ismael Alcantara added three more runs for Tulsa in the fifth with a three-run blast to center field for a 4-0 lead.
Wichita's first baserunner came in the sixth inning when Will Holland drew a two-out walk. Nastrini promptly struck out the next batter, Eduardo Julien, to end the inning.
Nastrini kept the no-hitter intact until the seventh inning. With one out in the seventh inning, Aaron Sabato earned Wichita's first hit on a solo home run, making the score 4-1.
The Drillers increased their lead in the eighth with the team's third homer of the night, this time from Abiatal Avelino, putting the Drillers up 5-1.
Tulsa put two more runs on the board in the ninth inning. With runners at first and third base, Leonel Valera stole second base, but an errant throw from catcher Jair Camaro allowed Kenneth Betancourt to score from third base. A wild pitch from Wichita hurler Bryan Sammons allowed Valera to score to put the Drillers up 7-1.
Wichita managed to plate two runs in the ninth inning on a single from Cole Sturgeon with the bases loaded to bring the score to 7-3.
