Nashville wins over Iowa

The Iowa Cubs fell to the Nashville Sounds 4-3 in a rain-shortened game Saturday night at Principal Park. Iowa held the lead through five innings but the Sounds came-from-behind in the sixth inning for the victory. Koyie Hill and Andres Blanco hit back-to-back singles to lead off the third inning. Pitcher Justin Berg then drove in Hill to take a 1-0 lead. The Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning when Matt Craig homered in the fourth inning. Nashville answered back with one run when Carlos Corporan hit an RBI groundout in the top of the fifth inning to trim Iowa's lead, 2-1. Casey McGehee drove in Iowa's third and final run in the fifth inning when he singled. In the sixth inning Nashville's Adam Heether tripled and Chris Woodward hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game 3-3. Pinch hitter Brendan Katin singled and drove in Callix Crabbe for the 4-3 lead. Andres Blanco grounded into a double play for the final out in the game moments before heavy rains hit Principal Park. Mike Burns (7-6) was tagged with the loss for Iowa, allowing one run in 0.2 innings of work. Nashville's Sam Narron (6-3) picked up the win, allowing three runs on seven hits over five innings pitched.
