Nashville SC Trades for Dominique Badji
December 2, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club announced today the club has signed Dominique Badji in a trade that sent $175,000 in 2020 Targeted Allocation Money and $150,000 in 2020 General Allocation Money to FC Dallas in exchange. FC Dallas will receive an additional $75,000 in General Allocation Money should Badji meet certain performance-based metrics with Nashville SC in the club's Major League Soccer inaugural season in 2020.
"Dominique is a menace to play against," said Nashville SC General Manager Mike Jacobs. "Versatile enough to play centrally and on the flanks, his combination of pace, strength and tenacity makes him a constant goal threat."
A fast and multifaceted attacking player, Badji has been a goal scoring threat for both FC Dallas and Colorado Rapids, netting a total of 36 goals, assisting in 16 more, in 141 appearances (112 starts) in MLS and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup competition in the past five seasons.
A 2015 MLS SuperDraft selection, the Senegalese had an immediate impact with the Rapids, appearing in 15 matches in his inaugural season. Just a year later, Badji's contributions helped the Colorado side reach the Western Conference Final and qualify for the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League for the first time since 2011.
After three and half seasons in Colorado, Badji was traded to FC Dallas midway into the 2018 season and once again experienced immediate success, helping his new club reach the MLS playoffs in back-to-back seasons.
Tickets to Nashville SC's inaugural MLS match against Atlanta United, presented by Renasant Bank, are available through Season Ticket Memberships starting at just $425 ($25 per game).
