Nashville SC Set to Face 'Night King' aka Ryan James

Nashville SC News Release
NASHVILLE - Nashville Soccer Club will travel to play Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday night at Highmark Stadium in the Steel City. One former NSC teammate who the club will see on the trip is current 'Hound defender, Ryan James. If he plays this weekend, James will become the first former Nashville SC player to take the field against his old team.
Current Nashville SC defender Taylor Washington complimented James, this week when talking about competing against his friend after the two bonded while a part of the inaugural Nashville SC team in 2018. Playing similar positions as fullbacks on the NSC defensive line allowed the two to become close, and the pair is excited to see each other this weekend.
"Ryan is such a great guy, a great player," said Washington. "We miss him here. It will be really good to see him."
James, a defender hailing from Canada, was a fan favorite in NSC's first campaign, but rest assured he is having a good start to his season after reuniting with old coach Bob Lilley in Pittsburgh. James leads the Riverhounds with two assists already this season, two more than he had in 16 appearances with Nashville in 2018.
Back with Lilley, James is excelling in the gritty, grinding disciplined style that Lilley's teams employ. Last season, James was held to just six chances created in those 16 matches with Nashville. In just six matches this season, James has already created seven chances for Pittsburgh, including two assists. The Canadian played under Lilley in 2016-2017 prior to arriving in Nashville with the now defunct Rochester Rhinos in the USL.
Nashville will need to be at its best best to contain James and the rest of the Pittsburgh offense this weekend.
