Nandin Knocks in Five in Colonials Romp

Pittsfield, MA - The Pittsfield Colonials upend the New Jersey Jackals 14-7 at Wahconah Park on Wednesday night.

Colonials starting pitcher Patrick Moran pitched four and one-third innings in a no-decision, allowing four runs on 11 hits, three walks, and four strike-outs. Reliever Pat Bresnahan (2-2) earned the win dealing two and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. Closer Juan Padilla was credited with the save, finishing the game after entering with the tying run at the plate in the eighth inning for New Jersey.

Pittsfield shortstop Matt Nandin (3-for-6, 2B, 5 RBI) drove in a career high five runs on three hits to lead the production for the Colonials. Right fielder Angel Molina (1-for-3, 2B, 2 RBI) knocked in a pair of runs, catcher Scott Knazek (3-for-4, 2B, RBI) enjoyed a three hit evening while centerfielder Dan Carte (1-for-4, 3B) laced a triple. Designated hitter Donny Leon (2-for-4, 2B, HR) and left fielder Rafael Cabreja (2-for-4, HR) each chipped in with solo homers.

Jackals' starter Jayson Miller (2-4) suffered the loss going four and two-third innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on ten hits, one walk, and one strike-out.

New Jersey second baseman Travis Jones (3-for-5, 2B, 2 RBI) enjoyed a three hit night and drove in a pair while shortstop Mike DeJesus (1-for-4, HR, 2 RBI) homered and had two RBIs.

The Colonials will travel to the Garden State to begin a seven day road trip, beginning with a four game series against the Sussex Skyhawks, starting on Thursday night at 7:05 when Miguel Flores (7-4) takes the ball for Pittsfield.
